Microsoft Teams is not the simplest product to use. Deleting items can be annoying and slow. It can be hard to find where to delete some items that you have created.

Deleting a List or Plan that you have created is not that straight forward. You need to find the right area where the delete button is located. It is along the top – under a drop down item. What a great place to hide it….

This is how you do it.

To delete List or Plan and not a Task in Microsoft Teams, follow the steps below. Click the image below to enlarge it.

  1. This does not actually delete the list or plan. It only removes the list/plan from the Channel.

If you try to create a new list using the name of the removed list, it will not let you – it will say it already exists.

Same if you try to remove a Planner plan. Though with Planner, I know how to find the master list of plans and delete it from there.

I am trying to figure out where the ‘master’ list of Lists lives and want to try to delete it from there.

    Any thoughts?

  2. It wouldn’t let me reply to my comment as it hasn’t been approved yet:

I just figured it out. You have to open the SharePoint site for the Team and go to Settings –> Site Contents.

From there you will see the lists and can delete them.
